Master thesis
More information can be found in the Examination Regulations M.Sc. and the module description.
Registration of the master thesis
- Download the form "Master Thesis Registration", which you can find on the website of the study program under "Downloads".
- Complete the form and sign it. Your supervisor also needs to sign the form. (Note that usually your supervisor will also write the first report for the thesis)
- When registering, you can also suggest a person to write the second review.
- In addition, a proposal must be written in the form, briefly describing what exactly you will be doing in the master's thesis, in order to give an estimate of the scope of the work. This is to prevent students from being given too extensive projects and assignments for a master's thesis.
- Send the form to the M.Sc. Examination Board for approval. Therefore, write an e-mail to the Examination Board (PA-MSc-NW(at)uni-koeln.de). It is recommended to put both the chairperson and the vice-chairperson in the CC of the mail in order not to run the risk of the mail being overlooked.
- In case of approval, the person of the Examination Board also signs the form.
- Send the completely filled out and triple signed form (by you, your supervisor and the examination board) to the examination office. Your Master's thesis will then start from the day you have indicated on the form for the start.
