Dear firstsemesters!
Welcome to the study program Neuroscience at the University of Cologne! Exciting and eventful years await you. In the beginning everything appears a bit complicated and confusing, but the student council will advise and support you! In order to enable you a smooth and easy start of the studies, here are the most important information and tips for you.

WhatsApp-Group
The student council formed a WhatsApp-group for the firstsemester students. Here you can network with your fellow students and ask us questions. Moreover, in this group we communicate information that are especially relevant for your semester. If you want to be added to the WhatsApp-group, send us a mail with your mobile number and tell us if you are in the Bachelor's or Master's program.
Mailling-List
In addition, we have a mailing-list, which is used to send you important information and news. If you want to be added to the mailing-list, just send us a mail. Note, that we only add your student mail adress to the mailing list (ends with "@smail.uni-koeln.de"
Besides the mailing-list of the student council, there is also an official mailing-list of the coordination of the Neuroscience programs, which is used to communicate binding and important information! In order to be added to this list, you have to write a mail to Ms. Jasmin Zoll (jasmin.zoll(at)uk-koeln.de). Please consider, that only the smail-addresses are added to this mailing-list!
Ersti events
Every year we organize a Freshers' Week with various activities so that you can get to know each other, explore the city and, of course, we can get to know you too. You can find more information here. The Freshers' Week will take place from 09.10-10.10 this year, the exact schedule will follow by e-mail. There will also be the official introductory event for Bachelor students on 06.10. at 11 am with our program coordinator Samir Delonge in lecture hall 3 of the anatomy building. (For Master students 08.10.2025 11am)
Ersti trip WiSe 25/26
Once again this year, there will be a freshman trip (but all other students are also welcome to join). From 31.10. (departure approx. 4 pm) to 02.11.2025 (arrival approx. 11 am) we will go to the boathouse of the Eschweiler Kanu Club in Obermaubach. This is a great opportunity to get to know other students! Have a look at the reports from previous years to get an impression. It's always a great weekend. We look forward to seeing you there! So make sure you keep the weekend free! Please register by e-mail to the student council with your name, allergies and whether you eat vegan/vegetarian. The cost is 50€.
